Discover Your Ultimate Rooftop Soul and Sunset Pop Playlist

We’re off to a great start this year for weather, so it feels like the perfect time to share a new rooftop soul and sunset pop playlist. We’ve needed this sun in the UK. The winters feel like living in a Lowry painting—grey, still, and lifeless.

But this… this is proper sun.
The deep, radiating kind that soaks into your muscles and bones, easing your joints and lifting your mood.

I’ve spent the day blasting Spotify through my headphones, catching some long-overdue UV, and yeah… a few beers may have been involved.

This week’s musical vibe is Rooftop Soul & Sunset Pop.
I’ve been feeling tracks with that breezy summer energy—the kind that balances upbeat grooves with a touch of melancholy. It’s the perfect mix for those feel-good, head-nodding moments—watching the vivid blue skies, the leaves dancing in the breeze, and feeling the sun soaking into your vitamin D–deprived body.

I hope you find something you like this week.
While you’re here, check out the other Weekly Vibes and the Music Discovery section.
I can’t promise you’ll love every track, but I do my best to share a variety of sounds, genres, and moods, hoping you’ll stumble across something new that refreshes your ears.

Sea Gets Hotter – Durand Jones & The Indications feat. Aaron Frazer

Lazy, sun-soaked retro vibes to kick things off.
This one’s effortlessly groovy and catchy—laid-back, but with just enough quiet energy to keep your head nodding.

It’s reflective, soulful, and sounds like it was recorded forty years ago—but it feels fresh and timeless.
The perfect soundtrack for a slow drive in the sun.

Luvin U Is Easy – Confidence Man

Next up, Confidence Man.
Now, they should tick all the boxes for me—they lean into dance beats and electronica—but honestly, most of their stuff doesn’t quite land with me.

Luvin U Is Easy is the exception.
In the pre-streaming days, this would have been one of those tracks I’d buy the whole album just to own this one song.

They struck gold with this.
Ethereal synths, a deceptively disco tempo, sultry but clean vocals, and an uplifting, euphoric energy that’s impossible not to move to.
It’s atmospheric, feel-good, and far too easy to dance to.

Let Me Show Ya – Jazzanova feat. Paul Randolph

This one is soul through and through—and feel-good soul at that.

Jazzanova’s sound is always diverse, and their production is spotless. Compared to Sea Gets Hotter, this track feels busier, with more layers and richer instrumentation, but they still complement each other perfectly.

The chorus is where it all comes together, and the strings carry the whole vibe.
Picture late afternoon on a summer’s day, falling in love with the moment, and seeing possibilities ahead.

Lisztomania (Classixx Version) – Phoenix

I first heard this on a Kitsuné compilation and it hit me straight away—goosebumps, no hesitation.

It’s pure head-nodding indie electronica, driven by spacey disco synths and echoed vocals that float effortlessly.

What I love most is how it holds back—there’s a kind of reserved energy that keeps you hooked, waiting for that payoff later in the track.
Perfect for those sundown moments when you’re not quite done yet, but you’re winding down in style.

Pretty People – Fuzzy Sun

Lastly, we’ve got Pretty People by Fuzzy Sun.

It’s got that punchy indie-pop energy, but it’s slick and clean, never messy or over the top.
The groove is tight, the vocals are light and infectious, and the whole thing feels sunny without being cheesy.

What I really like is how it plays off different moods. It’s feel-good and sun-soaked, but there’s also a hint of late summer melancholy—the perfect soundtrack for those long, hazy evenings when you know summer’s coming to an end, but you’re not quite ready to let it go yet.

Auf die Stage – Frau Fratz, Spaze Windu

Couldn’t resist squeezing in one more track to round off the vibe this week.

Auf die Stage is a bit more leftfield than the others, but that’s exactly why I love it. It feels like something you’d stumble across at some weird little rooftop party—the kind of track that catches you off guard, gets your head nodding, and makes you pull that “what is this?” face.

It’s quirky, bouncy, and has just the right amount of underground charm.
Loose, playful, but weirdly addictive.

Stick with it—you might find it grows on you more than you’d expect.
