Sony WH-CH700N Wireless Headphones Review
Why I Keep Coming Back to These Affordable Wireless Headphones
Like many audio enthusiasts, I’ve spent years chasing “better” gear. Buying, selling, upgrading—it’s easy to get caught up in the cycle. I’ve owned everything from budget buds to higher-end audiophile headphones like the Grado SR225e, which I featured in my travel audio setup article.
But when it comes to what actually stays on my head day after day, the answer might surprise you.
It’s not the expensive open-backs or the hyped-up new releases.
It’s the Sony WH-CH700N Noise Cancelling Wireless Bluetooth Headphones.
Why I Reach for These More Than Any Other
The Sony WH-CH700N may not win any awards for audiophile purity, but they’ve earned a permanent place in my everyday routine.
- Battery Life for Days
These things just keep going. I can’t remember the last time I heard a low battery warning. - Comfortable All-Day Wear
Lightweight and easy on the ears, perfect for long sessions—whether I’m washing the car, cooking, or winding down in bed. - Reliable Noise Cancelling
Surprisingly effective. Honestly, I’d put it on par with the Bose QC35, which I used to own before they were discontinued.
Sound Quality – More Than “Good Enough”
Sonically, they’re balanced, full-sounding, and easy to listen to.
No harshness, no fatigue—just an enjoyable, immersive listening experience.
They won’t replace your high-end wired setup, but for Bluetooth convenience, they really do hold their own.
The Sony Headphones Connect App – Find Your Signature Sound
One of my favourite features is the Sony Headphones Connect App.
- EQ Presets and Manual Tuning
You can tweak the sound to your liking with simple EQ settings. - Custom Sound Wizard
I love the “Find Your Sound” feature. It plays your music and asks you to pick between different sound profiles until you build your perfect EQ. It’s quick, easy, and surprisingly effective.
You can A/B test your custom EQ on and off at any time, which makes it feel like you’re getting two headphones in one.
Built to Last
I’ve had these for years, and apart from a bit of wear on the ear pads, they’ve outlasted every pair of cheap wired and wireless IEMs I’ve owned. They’ve been on holidays, in the garage, in hotel rooms—you name it.
What I Didn’t Love About Other Sony Gear
I’ll be honest—I’m not a die-hard Sony fan.
I actually returned one of their digital audio players (DAPs) because the interface was painfully slow and unresponsive. It left a bad taste, especially since my old iPod Classic still runs smoother.
But the WH-CH700N?
They just work. No fuss—just solid, dependable performance.
Would I Recommend Them?
Absolutely.
If you’re looking for a reliable, comfortable, and affordable pair of wireless noise-cancelling headphones, these are still a great choice—even though they’ve since been superseded by newer models like the Sony WH-CH710N.
That said, the WH-CH700N still hold their own today, often available at a better price than the latest versions. For casual listening, travel, and everyday use, they still deliver solid value—especially if you can pick them up on sale or second-hand.
